Hey everyone,

I've been having problems lately with my ESPRIT. I'm wiring out pin holes that need to have a nice fit in some cavity blocks. I use SolidWire on ESPRIT to create the operations for my Mits machines. Recently however I've been having a reoccurring issue on both my MV4800 wires where the holes are coming out about .002 small. I had to system default my operation settings after ESPRIT was having issues running on my computer late last week. Ever since then any holes I've cut have been coming out small, so I'm assuming it has something to do with the fact that I system defaulted my operation settings. I've been in contact with ESPRIT support since then via email but the responses have been very slow and I have jobs to do, I've tried getting in contact via phone but have had no luck so far. ESPRIT support hasn't helped much at all so I am turning to the gurus of this forum for help. All my code posts fine and I've confirmed with a Mits tech that all my offsets are correct. I made sure that both "additional clearance" in the general tab of my operation and "primary clearance" in the cut data tab of the operation are both set to 0. If anyone is familiar with ESPRIT and might know what is causing this .002 thou error in my cuts please let me know I'm on my last leg here.

I've only been using ESPRIT and doing wire for about 2 and a half months so I'm not all to familiar with a lot of things but I'm willing to try anything at this point.

I do know ESPRIT well, but it seems the simplest place to start would be to check the output code.

You said the code posts fine. Does this mean that the posted arc sizes are correct?

I'm not sure actually I haven't checked that, what in my code should I be looking for to confirm the arc sizes. I am pretty sure my ESPRIT code outputs points instead of arcs so that might complicate trying to confirm arc sizes.

Hey if you want me to program a hole and compare what ESPRIT outputs between ours let me know.

Just tell me what thickness, how many skims, material type, wire dia, and hole size.

That way you can zero in on if it is the machine itself.

Even though it sounds like common sense, I would go to the menu on the wires and double check that your wire size matches what you have in the machine and programmed on ESPRIT. I've forgotten before.

After defaulting the machine, did you run the voltage calibration program? A Mits tech showed it to me one day. It's more so to improve cut times but who knows it might be worth a try. I'll try and see what its called. It's already in every machine.
 
Could you share that section of code? I am not familiar with Mits machines, so I may not be able to help, but I will take a look.

Just double checked my wire parameters and they are correct. I have not run a voltage calibration program yet, I was planning on having a mits tech run me through how to do a VG Comp on both my machines to see if that fixes anything I'll ask him about that when I give him a call.

If you wouldn't mind programming a hole and comparing our code that'd be a huge help!

Hmmm it all looks the same. Must not be an ESPRIT issue. In the mean time you can comp the holes if it is cutting repeatably undersized.

When I'm doing tight tolerance holes I usually proof out the hole diameter in a scrap piece first. I'd figure out how much you need to comp to get to your diameter, test it, and then you have your magic additional offset until the machine is fixed.

Hmm that is so weird. That means whatever is happening is being replicated on both machines down to a tea. I've cut two of the same size holes on both machines and they both came out .002 thou short. I don't remember ever changing anything on either machines between when it was cutting accurately and when it started coming out .002 thou short. I've cut holes in the past the same size as these and they all came out within tenths of each other. Even talking with the Mits tech he couldn't figure anything out on the machine that was wrong. It also seems to be just holes that are coming out small, I just cut a small rectangular notch in a test block I have it came out damn near perfect. Just can't seem to figure out what I am doing wrong.

The green highlighted sections of code are definitely arcs for a .1574 hole. I can't help you with the machine.
