I need to do a face groove (drawing attached), the tool holder is MTENN2020K16, insert TNMG160408MS KCU25.
I programmed the tool approaching the part at a 30 degree angle with a DOC of 1mm, feed of 0.15mm/rev and cutting speed of 120m/min and left 0.2mm for a finishing pass, the material to be machined is carbon steel.
I have no experience with face grooving, so I have some questions
Is it 0.2mm for finishing enough?
What about the feeds and speeds, should I change anything?
What optimizations would you guys do to this program?
