Fanuc Lost parameters.

I afraid after much we searching I still cannot find an answer to Lost Parameter settings for my Fanuc O-MD controller. Is there an active Fanuc forum somewhere I have missed?

It is a secondhand machine and we have taken quite a long time on the refurbishment of the machining center. Lots of new parts were fitted and old ones repaired. I was told that the batteries would last a year but they haven't. Maybe a year if the machine is on each day, it may have. Anyway, the memory has been lost.

On top of that, the backup files I made, have been corrupted.

I do have the Parameter Data which is in hard copy that came with the machine. I scanned it and have it in a txt file It has about 2000 lines of data, in the format N1000 P00000000
I also have screen copies of the drive parameters.
Is this enough to get the machine up and running again ?
Is the default serial parameters still in the machine ?
Any suggestions please. Thanks Wallace.

Have you contacted the machine builder to see if they have a copy availible?

It is YANG SMT 500. Fanuc O-MD

I have printouts of the the parameters and macros and I have created a txt file. However, it appears that I need certain parameters in the machine to get the serial to work and some of the buttons. The keyboard works and I can manually enter some of the data.

When a memory reset is carried out, you get a one-shot chance of being able to download the parameters via the RS232 interface, without having to set any parameters. After a memory reset, the Fanuc Default comms settings of Xon/Xoff Handshaking, 7 data bits, 2 Stop bits and 4800 baud rate are set. It's actually only "one off chance" if the comms parameters of the data being downloaded are different to the defaults. Accordingly, given that you seem to have converted your hardcopy data into digital, if you set your sending device to:
Handshake Method: Xon/Xoff
Data Bits: 7
Stop Bits: 2
Parity: Even
Baud Rate: 4800

and have the correctly configured Loopback, Null Modem Cable, you will be good to go.

Regards,

Bill

Hi Bill. Sorry I ddn't set notifications on, so missed your email.

I have successfully downloaded my paramater file.

All seems to be fine and most key buttons are working (LED comes on). I have no alarms but a
machine has a NOT READY signal. Maybe it is a PMC error. I don't however have
the PMC file but a lot of OEM printouts. I cant however enter any Diagnostic figures. Seems to be locked.

It seems most items were preconfigured with the parmeter file, the drives, the tool changer but the control and display are not quite fully functional. It boots to AUTO MDI JOG at randoom and the buttons don't change the status. Sometimes Zero and Home will display on a button press.

Which I could find someone else with one of these.

Did you replace the keysheet perhaps? It looks nice and new?

To add on to what I think GENERALDISARRAY is getting at, the keypad sticker does look new. And if it was a cheap replacement, there might not have been room for the buttons to snap back (they should be bubbled out enough to prevent a button from being stuck in)

That could cause issues with button presses. I've actually seen an instance here on practical machinist of someone replacing their MDI pad but it was poorly made, and held down several buttons, causing them to wipe their memory on restart (there are key combinations you can hold to clear programs, parameters, etc).

Edit: although if you can't change menus with a NOT READY alarm, it might actually be because of that that you cant change menus.

Yes I did change the overlays (Aliexpress) The new ones were not good with the clearance, however, I removed some of the layers of the old ones and sandwiched them with the new and now they are perfect. All buttons have an audible click and lights come up as button selected.
