I am the original owner of this lathe. It was purchased new in 2008. In the time I've owned it, it has always been used and stored in climate controlled shops. This lathe was used 95% for cutting aluminum (my own products). The other 5% was for gunsmithing and installing rifle barrels.

I made three modifications to this lathe: first was to install the pieces of channel to the front of the lathe to help redirect coolant back to the coolant tank (easily removed if desired). Second was to install the halogen work light to the backsplash, which is plugged into an existing accessory outlet. And third, was to install an outboard spider to the spindle for use in chambering and crowning rifle barrels for gunsmithing. The original Haas spindle end cap is included if this last option is not desired.

I will skid and load the lathe onto your flatbed trailer. I have a forklift, but I don't know if it will pick up this lathe. If it will not, I will rent one to load the lathe onto your trailer.

See video tour of the lathe here (turn up volume to hear my commentary and to listen to spindle):

Lathe can be seen under power at my location with prior arrangement.

Reason for selling is I have a new Doosan Lynx turning center more appropriate for production parts.

Base price from Haas is $28,999. Price with all the tooling, accessories, and options I have would be $35,360 on a new one. The new ones do have the full enclosure, but that isn't necessarily wanted or needed for some applications...like gunsmithing. Since I'm dropping the price $100 a day, we'll see what it is worth. I didn't want to under price it. When I was looking at Haas turning centers, my dealer offered me $18k for this TL-1 sight unseen on trade-in. If a dealer is offering that, it has to be worth quite a bit more...

Older ones have been selling on ebay for 21-23K, and yes the extras you have on your machine would add a lot to it. I bought mine 6yrs ago used and it was for 17k, and it is a 2004 model with no rigid tapping.

Your price isnt that bad Eric and I am sure you will find a willing buyer before too long. Those things seem to disappear quickly once advertised. And why not, they are good little money makers for the right kind of parts.

Remember we need porn of your new machine over on the cnc forum....:)

Manual Tailstock MT4 1 1,995.00 USD
Visual Quick Code 1 695.00 USD
Tool Bin 1 95.00 USD

Total Price 35,360.00 USD

Additionally, I'm including the live center, work light, and the chuck is adjust-tru. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Charles, once I get done with my current run of parts, I'm going to video it making one of those parts in brass instead of aluminum, so I can run it without coolant. Uses all 12 turret positions, 8 of them live tools.

Thanks,

Ok, so consensus (except alan) is that I should stay firm on my price for a while yet. I guess that is the issue with selling machinery when it isn't your expertise. Price it too high and it doesn't sell. Price it too low and you lose too much money. I figured by dropping $100 a day, I would find the happy medium. Sounds like you guys don't like that idea though. I'm open to better ideas...

Any idea what percentage 520 Machinery charges to broker a sale? They do have a 2005 TL-1 on eBay for $24,500, but it has been there for a couple of weeks at least. If they are wanting 10%, then I've got a couple of weeks of $100 price drops before I would lose money from where I'm at. I'm pretty sure it would sell by then. I'll give them a call on Monday if they are open, or Tuesday if they have MLK day off. I'll freeze the price at $22,700 until I talk to them...

Thanks,
Eric the non machinery salesman U

Do you for sure get the full enclosure at that price ? At IMTS they told me the enclosure was to be standard from there on but it wasn't clear when I looked at the prices in October on their website if the base price actually included the enclosure or not.

When I did "build a quote" on the Haas website, under options "chip enclosure kit" already had a checkmark next to it and it says "included in price".

So your list in post #6 is current prices and not what you actually paid, yes ? I say that as I can't imagine Haas magically adding that cover and keeping the base price the same when the cover alone seems like was in the $3,500 range before.

Correct...current prices. I remember the enclosure being around a $3000 option back when I purchased this machine.

Talked to 520 Machinery. They said I'm in the correct price range for this machine. I'm going to resume my $100/day price drop and see what happens. Once I get to the area where I'd be after commission to 520 Machinery, I'll have them sell it.

Current price: $22,600.
