GT vs HY VFD for Hardinge Lathe

Hello, first post. I was given this Hardinge turret lathe recently and I was wanting to get it running. It was converted to CNC decades ago and then stripped of parts later. The motor is a 1690-RPM 1-HP 3 phase motor. Looks like they removed all the old circuitry and all that is left is the motor connected to the spindle with a belt and the on/off switch. Im guessing all I need is a VFD ( HY model Huanyang?) to get the motor to run correctly with my single phase? I have a GT Huanyang model VFD from another project but I cant find the directions for setting the parameters. On the other hand, since its just powering the drive belt, could I just replace it with a single phase motor? Just wanting to get it spinning! Any help is greatly appreciated!

The Huanyang is not discussed on the forum anymore. Too many problems.
There are a lot of other VFDs to choose from.

They sure didn't leave you much choice, VFD or nothing. (pic 2).

But if the machine has another motor (feed) then you need a second VFD, I remember that people have done that. But not for me.
I would re-build the control cabinet to near original and use a RPC.






Or go the digital route. This is a touch screen for threading and possibly more.

Thanks for the reply! The Babin stuff is impressive and something ill shoot for in the future. I got a better more reliable VFD per your suggestion and found enough stuff on the internets that I got it spinning. Appreciate the help
