Haas helping the Russians?

what EG said in the other thread should be taken into consideration though, if they only shipped goods they sold and were paid for prior to the sanction, then its a much more grey area IMO.

At the start of putins latest war Germany had some pipeline gas compressors that had been rebuilt and ready to be shipped back to russia. Not really needed just for spares. As I recall they were already paid for and I think they ended up shipped after sanctions because they were an already done deal.
Lots of controversy about what should be have done with them. Of course russia blew up their own pipeline a few months later so it was a mote point.

Lots of commentary here about CCN NYT WAPO is crap, but I have, in the past, asked [even posted the front page of CNN.com] and said, find me a lie

crickets

Well, we can let a frog loose in the cricket patch at least ...

Pretty much everything the Times and Washboard print about China is a lie. Two paragraphs of intro then sixteen of lies. Unfortunately it is usually difficult to clearly demonstrate that. However ...

If you will remember, in early December there was a bunch of 'reporting' on alleged riots over covid. (There have been no J ((journalist)) visas for more than two years. All those datelines 'Beijing' are a lie). Anyway, the front of my house is on wanhangdu lu, the back on wulumuqi lu. Wulumuqi is about five blocks long - goes one block north then kinks to the right (there's a shao bing place I go to sometimes, and decent rou bao); in the other direction it goes about three blocks to just past huashan hospital. There is nothing but little stores on those three blocks. At huashan there's a decent little dongbei restaurant, go there too. I go outside every single day. It is possible there were riots on wulumuqi but they'd have had to be really small and short, cuz I sure as hell saw nothing.

Okay, not provable, me vs Lily Kuo and of course that twenty-year old bitch who couldn't tie her own shoes and her entire previous 'reporting' experience was writing gushy columns about the newest toy for Gizmondo, of course she is more reputable than me, okay okay.

But you will remember that shortly after that, when they dropped all the controls, the Post and Times were hell-bent that Xi Jinping was lying, there were millions of covered-up deaths, the morgues were overflowing, streets stacked with the dead, hospitals inundated, probably a hundred million old people dead and all covered up !

Yeah. (In fact, right before the end of restrictions the assistant got it and had to stay home. I was laughing and sending photos of all the places with no green code now, haha. So she then gave it to me and I had to stay in bed for three or four days, no energy. That was the extent of the illness. Everyone I know - everyone - got it within about a two week period, and no one was seriously ill. It was amazing how fast. The current virus is not at all the same as it was three years ago.)

Anyway, there were no millions of deaths, no overflowing morgues, no swamped hospitals, no government coverup. It was total bullshit. Got into a heated discussion with someone who insisted on the lies the papers were printing. So I walked around the area and took photos. There's 26 million people here, this is almost the exact center of the city, there's five or six hospitals within a one mile circle. None, as in NONE with even ten people dying in the halls. An easy walk so I took it, and took photos (not inside, that's not polite). Here's a few. I have dozens, literally.

Do you see thousands of people screaming at the gates, pounding to get in, wailing over their dead loved ones ? Me neither. In fact, that whole campaign was nothing but shit. Shit shit shit and lies by the "reputable, responsible" press.

Not crickets. Flatout bullshit lies, reported as fact. Propaganda that would make Leni Riefenstahl blush (but not Janet Cooke or Jayson Blair, of course).

These are not a misunderstanding, a different viewpoint, a conflicting view of events caused by a different vantage point. These are outright lies. Dishonest, disgusting crap spread around as fact. The assholes at these places should be disemboweled then drawn and quartered and their deceitful fucking heads stuck up on poles around their cities, as a warning to others.

Free speech ? Sure. Freedom to lie ? I think not so good, maybe even should not be protected. We don't all have six million dollars available to clear our names.

p.s. There's another case for you, Gus. Took Mr Depp six million bucks but he also demonstrated that the Washington Post is happy liars -- in court.

Can I add another photo ? For a little contrast, here's the normal line at the ice cream store -- vicious little monsters they are, bite your leg off to move up one place in line :( but if you'll notice, a lot more people here than at the hospitals with millions of deaths in the offing.

Does that tell you anything ?

With all due respect, while I am annoyed by Mika and Rachel or whoever rambling on MSNBC nearly as much as Tucker, we have court filings involving text messages where Foxnews hosts are:
reviling their viewers
admitting that what they are proclaiming on air is laughable
complaining that hard news[facts] people are going to cost them money by reporting, uh facts

This is really a bit different from 'both sides'

I have been reading the Boston Globe for better part of 50 years. Learning to parse the truth by reading past the headline has become second nature.

There is a profound difference between editorial bias, or choosing what stories to tell, and telling stories that you know to be untrue

Truth is not negotiable

Anyone's opinion about the truth is always welcome

No, all the damn networks are not like gossip magazines

Every place you have ever gotten news from has been paid to do it

By someone who isn't you

I refuse to buy into the 'everybody lies' when you have one side pushing a narrative they know to be false

Lots of commentary here about CCN NYT WAPO is crap, but I have, in the past, asked [even posted the front page of CNN.com] and said, find me a lie

There are different lies that you and I find attractive

Intelligence is understanding your own bias and being able fight it
"......reading the Boston Globe for 50 years...."
Like a long marriage where both partners assume the habits and thoughts of each other and ultimately look and sound alike.
Not unusual for a person to stick with something comfortable even avoiding reality in some cases, a security blanket of sorts, a place that always seems consistent and safe presenting no challenges.
And so it goes.

way to deliberately miss the point

Selective use of the "facts" is just as bad. Just different. I stand by my statement. News has taken a large turn for the worse in the last several decades.
I would argue that the wide ability to access information from varying sources has improved news reporting
One is not trapped with 20 minutes of 'world news' on TV, or one or two major newspapers.
The problem is not with the reporting per se[not saying that that end has improved] it is with people:
mixing up opinion articles/programs with news
people self selecting to the point of, as we see in this very thread, not believing the obvious, researchable facts

Just the facts indeed

'point'? What was your point?
that anyone with any rudimentary intelligence must learn to parse their news source
usually that means reading more than the headline

MASSIVE CUTS IN DEFENSE SPENDING

usually means a small percentage off of the planned increase in defense spending, once you read the details

etc

SIgh. I purposely did not discuss the claims of protests because we were not informed that the Post (home of Janet Cooke et al) would be publishing this stuff so I wasn't able to run out and take empty streets shots. That's why I am not willing to argue about it because I require proof, unlike our friend above.

Of course, as usual, when faced with a few facts mr gus runs off in another direction entirely.

I'd discuss his photo but it's a waste of time and not relevant to the point. Gustafson said "crickets" I say "oh yeah ? where's the millions of corpses ?"

I'm still saying "where's the corpses ?" but all gus has is more propaganda. I s'pose I could get some Kyle Rittenhouse shots to counter ... nah. Let's not and say we did.

Here's specially for freedom tho, just snagged it when I went to grab a snack.

This is where wulumuqi makes the kink to the right, more churchly from the front but this angle is more attractive :) One block from home.

wulumuqi_jog.jpg

No protesters available, alas. Maybe we can have the photoshop wizards at the Post make us up some.

Just for fun, an inside shot or two which I didn't take, a relative broke a little bone in her foot that weekend so I asked for some discreet indoors shots. Yup, piled high in the aisles, the victims of Xi Jinping Thought, unh-hunh. Hospital photos ...

huashan_downstairs.jpg

more corpses ! more coverup ! bring on the corpses and wailing relatives !

huashan_2floor.jpg

Does anyone hear crickets ?

Oh yeah, relevance. When famous US papers are only too willing to print blatant lies, what can we expect from a known biased do-gooder organization like pbs ?

Slander and innuendo is what I expect, pretty much like what the Post prints. As a victim of domestic violence, I suffered grave consequences and that must change. (Pardon me a moment while I cook up the smack to poke into my stick-thin arms).

If you're writing about the Nord Stream 1&2 pipeline explosions, I've yet to read anything definitive, though there are quite a few pieces written that the saboteurs are still unknown.

lol, you believe that?

the issue of Haas shipping machines to a regime that was engaging in atrocities happened in 2022, and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with Putler's indictment this year. this is nonsensical and the article 1 section 9 reference is completely irrelevant. this is not even about US law.
l'ts pretty simple, it was wrong to ship the tools. wether Haas could have stopped the shipment, and did they at least try, those are the only relevant questions.
Really? "this is not even about US law"

In other words Haas should break its contract, suffer financial loss and perhaps damage its reputation with other international customers who may at some time become "politically incorrect" because some people FEEL that they should.

Emotions and business don't mix well and the same might be said for foreign policy where more than once the US public has been emotionally tricked into endless no-win wars.

"babies yanked from incubators and thrown to the floor to die"

"weapons of mass destruction"

"Remember the Lusitania!"

"Remember the Maine!"

Yada, yada, yada

It does nothing of the sort, and you know it
Seriously? People identified as federal assets and BLM/Antifa activists breaking down barriers and damaging property, Capitol Police escorting "the shaman" and helping him pose for pictures, and even "the shaman" standing on the capitol steps later with a microphone telling protestors that "trump has asked us to go home" and "we are the party of law and order".

And contrast the treatment of the J6 folks with anti-Trump/BLM rioters who attacked a federal courthouse and even the White House.

Scotti, you obviously worked hard there to find some source besides Cluckker Tarson for the complete BS revisionist whitewashing of Jan 6. do you seriously think Fanone is a crisis actor? he was there and seems pretty believable to me. Cluckker wasn't, and we have evidence he doesn't believe his own swill either.

its easy to find pictures of the trenches of WW1 where the soldiers are doing washing, cooking food, or having a smoke, so just a little camping out with the boys, right? what Cluckker is doing is finding the rare vid that DOESNT show the disgrace, stupidity, and violence of that day and say there was none of it, but we already have seen it, so you'd have to be a sucker to buy that, wouldn't you?

anyone who parrots these obvious lies is either seriously deluded, or intentionally promoting an anti-American extremist agenda.
you do know the Ruzzki troll farm worked for years to get the extremist conspiracies amplified? some of their well worn techniques are the "what aboutisim" and "its all a conspiracy" the whackier the better, spread so much crap that people give up, and you are sounding exactly like that. you are doing their work. shame.

oh, maybe you ARE one of them...
