I am restoring a 1977 HLV-H, and have casually keeping a look out for some replacement parts. About ~6 hours away someone is selling some components for basically scrap prices, and before I make the schlep I would like to understand whether it is likely the parts will be compatible:

1) Electronics cabinet. I'm not concerned about any extra/not enough holes, but just with the size. Mine is bent out of shape.
2) Primary Motor. The electrical specs match, but I'm curious if there are different performance characteristics which may make it unsuitable (different QC on motor balance, etc). My original needs work.

Anyone have any insight?

I would expect a similar year cabinet to be interchangeable. Motors can be 230/240, 480, or 600 that I think. The wrong voltage would be the biggest problem that I would expect. There are many threads here about what to do with lathes that were set up for the wrong voltages so many of those "wrong" motors are around.

If it's the voltage you need and the power you need, then it'll fit and be suitable for the HLV-H.

There were different electrical cabinets for different markets, but the DV/DSM one will be close, except for not having fuses/transformer for carriage feed motor (can't recall if there should be a transformer in the main electrical cabinet. None of that is a major issue, especially if it's just the box you need and can re-mount the HLV-H paxolin panel in the new tin box :)
