By "under" I mean something sandwiched between the inside top of the oiler cap and the plunger cylinder ? I ask as there is nothing on mine and it leaks oil like crazy out the top. ('cap' being the external screw on dome nut that the plunger slides thru)

If there was something like felt in mine, it has long been gone. I have rolls of felt that can be cut to shape.
(BTW, mine doesn't leak with a empty inner dome)

Interesting... I was afraid of that....the O ring on the pump shaft looks fine but I will replace it and see if that helps.

Maybe you don't want to alter your perfect machine. But you could rub the bottom of the dome lid on some 400 grit paper with water. Then that would make a tight
seal on the bottom. If the leak is squirting through the oil plunger shaft hole than you know it's a seal below for sure. Easy to cut one out.
