7/8-14 External thread in 303, 1/8 slot down to just under thread minor through 9/16 inch of thread length.

I've tried a straight thru mill slot- no bueno.
I've tried a 3/32 endmill to slot and profile- no bueno.
I've tried a 3/32 endmill to rough slot and a different 3/32 to profile finish- no bueno.
I've tried all of the above with 2flute & 4flute of differing brands-no bueno!

I cannot seem to find a mix that does not leave burrs all over the edges of the threads. The rest of the part is beautiful; and 303 is my favorite material to machine due to it's ease of chipping and sweet finishes. I'll entertain anything at this point- manually deburring this portion is a PIA! Help!

heres what I do.....I then rerun the thread profile again...that's pushes the burrs back into endmill slot....then I rerun the slot program...sometimes I do it 3 times even....see if that works good enough for ya on these pieces

just an idea, but I wonder if you thread to .002-.003 above the final diameter. Then mill the slot. Then thread to final diameter. Otherwise I like what Johnny said.

I would not doo that, or at least doo that as a last resort.
That interupted cut will kill that threading tool post haste.

I run some castle nuts (not SS) and the only way that I can run them w/o sorting junk all the time is to thread, slot, and run the threader back through, but at only 2 passes or whatnot. Not running the whole routine again. Just set your "first pass DOC" a lot higher and it should track OK.

We just ran <10,000 pcs, and the only trouble with threading was when the boring bar ahead of it chipped.
