What are you guys using for hi feed mills in steel? I am looking for something in the 1.5" range for doing 4140/4130 plate. One particular part is starting from 6" round and I have to remove probably 80 percent of the volume. I would like something I can run to helix down through a part as well.

Mitsubishi/Hitachi Moldino High Feed works fine in our HAAS VF-5 SS.
We have 3/4" and 2.0" cutters.
I made a comparison between old Mitsubishi High Feed we used before, Kennametal and Iscar.
Moldino beat all of them.

Moldino are great . Though I have had trouble finding them since they changed to that name. where do you buy inserts and such? The web sight draws a blank for distributors. Only options I have found are China (not likely to be hitachi) or the occasional ebay find with three inserts. I have had good luck with the older iscars but inserts were 30 bucks a pop. Shars has a reasonably similar tool to the Hitachi iasr but the inserts are only sold in five packs and are out of stock quite often.

I've had some solid luck with a HRMD tool from Korloy. I run a 2 inch in P20 mold steel. Worked well in my anxient 1994 VF3
