Hitachi Seiki HT20SII CNC Lathe and is in need of help please due to an turret fault. The current issue is specific to the turret when calling for a tool via program or MDI. The turret will index fine manually via buttons on front control panel however, when using program of MDI, it throws the machine into an fault condition.
We would like someone to help us get this machine up and running as soon as possible and if you are willing to come to our site to help us we can discuss the details as well.
I look forward to your replays and thank you in advance.

It might help to tell us where you are located if you want someone to stop by. Also, some contact info might be help full as well.

Was the machine running ok prior to this issue or??

Thanks for replay Dan
We are in Syracuse NY, and fill free to call (3 one 5) 4 six 8-6 two 5 one Ext: 147

The machine was bought/installed/leveled and when we started the machine for the first time everything turned on as it should. The head turns, the torrent with tools rotates manually. When we start the program for the first time machine stopped on the program when the program calls for tools to change and shows a turret error that you can see in the pictures i provided earlier in my previous post.

Thanks for your help

What code are you using to index the turret? I believe that if you wanted to index to turret position # 5 on that machine, you would command T0500. This machine does not use the typical T0505 format.

The control should display an error code along with going into e-stop. Can you access the error code page in the control and look up the error in your operators/programming manual?? Is this a new program or one that has been run in the past? Are there any old programs in memory that you can refer to? Do you have a programming manual for the machine/control?? As wmpy notes above, is your tool call format correct??

Thank you for your reply. The code for tool five was T0500 M41 in the same line. Now we have a new problem with the battery (see attached picture) and I'm not sure if this fuse related somewhere or if the battery is somewhere on the PC board I need to find where it is. When I opened the back panel I saw a small LED code "E7 NC Emergency" I guess this is all related to the same cause. I am grateful in advance for any help

Thank you for the replay Dan,
we are not able to reach the error code page right now because we have a new problem with the battery (see my last post with a picture)
the program we started is not new and came in memory. we have a programming manual for the machines and I remember the tool line was T0500 M41.
I appreciate any help in advance

My ancient Hitachi with a 3T uses two sets of batteries. The set on the Fanuc front panel uses three D cells, the Seicos in the back cabinet uses two AA cells. What does your manual say about them?

I never put another code on my tool call line, but maybe it works. Once you get your battery situation straightened out, you might want to try getting rid of that M41 on the T line. M41 is most likely to specify the high-speed winding of the spindle motor. You can put it on a separate line.

It's been a while since I had a SII machine, but on the newer SIII machines, the battery is on located on the main board of the control in the back of the machine.

It sounds like you might have more than just a battery issue going on, though. I recommend contacting Cyber CNC in Wisconsin. They are pretty knowledgeable about these machines.

The battery is behind the computer card cage in the cabinet.
It will be a couple of alkaline batteries in a plastic holder.
It may be behind or pulled out from behind the cage depending on who changed them last.
They have a short cord attached.

Change the battery with the CONTROL ON.
