Hello all. I recently bought and refurbished a 1953 Logan 1922 which is a 11” lathe. It came with an 8” 3 jaw chuck but I’d like to purchase an 8” 4 jaw chuck for it as well. I’m not doing precision work so I will be staying under $200. My question is, does anyone know what bore size and thread pitch Logan’s had back then? I measured 2.25” and 8 TPI but I just need to be sure. Also, what does all the nomenclature mean “in the box” when looking for a chuck? This is the one I am considering, do you all think it will fit my lathe? Thank you.

"CME' is one of the brands of China's "San Ou" group. Not TERRIBLE goods, and really all you need for a Logan or SB. Neither of those light-duty hobby lathes OWN enough low-end torque nor high-RPM HP to get you into serious trouble, regardless. Other than buying from Amazon, anyway. That's usually last choice- Bezos has stolen too much of our budget already.
Better-off with CDCO or H&H Industrial, or any of several other import dscounterss.
I'd also suggest you go see what "Small Tools", Cleveland area has - used or even "NOS", first.
2 1/4" 8 was on the 1959-61 Logan we had for school shop. There was a very minor dif from same nominal threaded nose on the SB 10" adjacent, both bought brand-new.
We simply modified the register area and lightly cleaned-up the threads so we could stretch a
very sparse JR HS budget so our chucks could work on either SB or Logan lathes.
You might actually find a SIX inch or 7" 4-J more all-around welcome?
If you can only have ONE really good chuck, roughly half the swing is where it should be. Pays to fill-in the seldom-used size extremes with the cheaper goods and just "baby" them for the fewer occasions you even use them
at all.
I have seriously better-made 6" Cushman, Yuasa, and Bison, 7 1/4" Swedish SCA, but also very average 10", 4" and 5" San Ou that were as little as $90, brand-new as "flat backs".. before I put China on personal boycott until the bio-wars are sorted out.
