How to hold a thin Thrust Washer in lathe for turning?

So far so good on the grinding. This is a bad (chipped) gearset that im practicing on. Took 0.0095 off so far.

I think i see why the last guys "rebuild" failed. It looks like it was rebuilt with these chipped gears. Ok, no prob. Parts for these are HARD to find. BUT. They didnt file down/debur the chipped area. The gear wouldnt sit flat on my magnet. Which might explain why it FUBAR'd the thrust washers.

Definitely use the 660 bronze- not oilite for the thrust washers. Might even consider some Aluminum or Ammco bronze if its severe duty.
