Can anyone give me an example of code that works for rigid tapping on a Hurco VMX24 machine with a Winmax control?

I have gone through the manuals and gotten nothing and I have tried what works on a Fanuc machine and gotten nothing. I can still call Hurco applications, but that can take hours of sitting on hold.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

This is a WinMax rigid tap 1/2-20 peck tap cycle. On the G84.2 line, The first Z= total depth, the second Z= peck increment if needed but cannot be left blank. R is the retract plane, F= feed rate IPM and P is dwell. Don't forget the M29;)

For the Hurco VMX42 (2-3 years old, Winmax Ver. 7-something) that I run, the manual calls out G84.2 w/m29 called out before the G84.2 line for rigid tapping. It works with or without a Q amount for pecking. I've never tried just G84 or the two Zdepths version. Maybe try both without a part in place. I hate that "crunch" sound.:bawling:

The manual talks about two different types of G-code for Hurcos. I forget what they call them exactly, ours is International Standard or something like that. The other starts with a B. It will an acronym in the header on the G-code programming screen.

Edit:

I would write Captdave"s program as:

M06 t21 (1/2-20 Tap)
G00 G54 X-1.4141 Y1.4142 M03 M29 S500
Z1.
G84.2 R.1 Z-.7 F25. M08 (NO PECK, YOU COULD USE A Q.4 FOR ONE PECK)
G80 M09
