I keep hearing that this winter will be bad for manufacturing in Europe.

Gus...Do you ever socialize with real people?
You know...like at a backyard get-together with a bunch of different personalities and occupations?
Or is your social circle consist only of academic types who hang on every word, of every comment, and dissect each and every sentence for accuracy?
In my world, which obviously is not a world most people aspire to duplicate, often times much of the conversation is absolute bullshit. Which of course pretty much sums up my life.

>>>>>Moderator....and before you give me another strike I'm just trying to understand how a person rolls to avoid pissing anyone off. Otherwise I'll just put another one on ignore to stay out of trouble. <<<<<<
Sorry, because some are gullible does not make them right
Imagine the odds that a machinist hangs out only with academics, and reconsider who you converse with

Tp put some USA deaths in proper perspective
Drug overdose 2022=107,000 @2020=93,332 @2019= 72.152
Gun deaths @2021+49,832, Homocides@2021= 21,000
Auto deaths @2021=42,915 @ 2020+ 38.824
Suicides @ 2020=45,571 @ 2021+ 47,646
Cancer @2021=608,570
Good point
those numbers[I am going to take them as true for the purposes of conversation] are indeed 'facts'

the implications from them are opinions

You can get some varying numbers at different sites, but those numbers seem correct / decent..

I added :* I suspect a good number of total gun deaths and gun homicides are drug related. Total includes accidents, cops shooting bad guys (or good guys), drug people shooting each other, somebody shooting another as an act of rage, and senseless shooting up schools and the like.
Anyone who deliberately shoots /kills for no reason should be kicking at the end of a rope.

Somebody who deliberately kills somebody's kid/child should get beat up and then hung* IMHO.
*Not to inflict pain on them, but to set an example for the next person thinking about doing that.

Will you be so kind as to enlighten us on where he is not factually correct in his article?
Rob, I see your'e back at quoting fascinating stories.
How exactly do you expect anyone to give any credence to any garbage containing this kind of nonsense:

But what was the cost? Besides creating Islamic terrorism, Carter’s and Reagan’s actions, according to the Atlantic, resulted in an estimated one million civilians killed, as well as 90,000 Mujahideen fighters, 18,000 Afghan troops, and 14,500 Soviet soldiers.

That is one of his conclusions regarding the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
That dickhead also calls the Orange revolution of 2004 a US/CIA effort:

The Guardian reported that the Orange Revolution was “an American creation, a sophisticated and brilliantly conceived exercise in western branding and mass marketing,” which included “US consultancies, pollsters, diplomats, the two big American parties and US non-government organisations.”

Here, watch this. It's only a 1h30min piece, again from 4 years ago and contains mostly original footage from that time:

That is what I'd call facts.
One sided perhaps, but facts nonetheless.

And this is your opinion, which you are entitled to, that may or may not relate to the facts you previously posted, but that is called a 'discussion' which can be based on facts or peoples interpretations of facts.

Ok, here is one that is factually incorrect ( from your article )

Despite a 1989 President George H.W. Bush pledge to Mikhail Gorbachev, General Secretary of the Soviet Communist party, not to expand the Alliance “…one inch to the east”,

It was not Bush, rather Secretary of State Jim Baker who - on his own volition - made that statement, but not as a written agreement, rather a verbal promise during discussions of East Germany rejoining with West Germany and it's separation from the Warsaw Pact.

And then he ( your author ) uses that BS as a basis for his subsequent opinions.

Caterpillar is working on a diesel electric bulldozer. Seems very likely. Locomotives have done it for 100 years or more. Polaris is working on battery electric quads for the army. can be parchuted with crew onboard. Never hear them coming until the 50 cals clear their throats.

And he never will.

He doesn't agree with you so he eggs you on, much like E.G. and the long gone Norwegian.

BTW, his definition of "facts" is centered on the facts HE thinks are relevant and agree with his line of reasoning.

Your facts are really opinions, dressed up as facts for the prom.

Just roll with it and have a little fun with him.
I know his type well, I am in California after all, surrounded by them.
It was fun to see him unable to defend his position with nothing more than his normal ad-hominem attack on the guy who wrote the story rather that take apart the info in the story...
Seymore did post a film made by "protests on demand" or some such out of DC, I will give it a look .
