You think Russia would tolerate a nuclear Ukraine?
I think not, which is why they've signed the memorandum where in exchange of Ukraine relinquishing all of it's nuclear arsenal ( #3 at the time by a long shot ) Russia grants complete autonomy and sovereignty to Ukraine.
You've once said Putin would be foolish to honor an agreement signed by a drunken, self soiling Yeltsin.
Well, on that same thought process, would you also agree that Ukraine could decide the same and rebuild it's nuclear arsenal?
Sure, the original soviet nuclear construction sites were beyond the Urals, far away from reach, but Ukraine has the ability and the knowhow to do it.
Tit for tat.
As far as the coup, why are you guys conveniently and in all cases forget to add the reasons for said coup?
It started as a relatively peaceful movement over a couple of weekends in response to Yanukovich reneging on THE VERY PROMISE that got him elected!
After the otherwise peaceful protesters got shot up by government police and the military, they became a bit less peaceful.
Add to it the follow up by Putin's annexation of Crimea, the now less peaceful Ukranians picked up the pitchforks.
All at the same time, Putin started arming russian-friendlies in the Donbass region, who in turn ( like immediately after Crimea ) announced their own self-annexation.
Well, yes, that brought out the animal in the Ukranians.
Like it or not, pretty or not, they do have a reason to be slightly pissed.
You people keep bringing up the example of Khrushchev's Cuban missile crisis that pissed off the USA.
Well, Putin didn't just arm a Ukraine neighboring country with missiles, he shipped them directly into it with the intent of letting the separatist fight it out!
And you talk about a US proxy war in Ukraine?
And that was my pragmatic explanation, you do not want to hear the emotional one!
