Index direction

I've recently started operating Kitamura 4 axis VMCs with 16i controls. I came from an area with 4 axis Matsuuras with YASNAC controls. The Matsuura "A" axis would always go past zero when indexing between positive and negative values. These FANUC machines take the shortest path. I would like to change the Kitamuras to behave the same way as the Matsuura machines. I've been looking at parameter 5500. Does anyone know what idx type A and type B change? The machine is currently set to type A.

Hi, what is Parameter 5500 #3(inc) and parameter 5511 set to. these are the two settings with regards to what you describe.

Thanks for the reply. Both are set to zero. 5511 looks like it sets a m code to use when going in a negative direction.
