Good Morning All.
Yesterday we finished the July 17 -21 Minnesota Scraping Class. This was a small 3 student class; JD from Quebec City, Canada, Howard from Houston and Bryan from Dassel, MN.
It was a typical class where we taught them to Biax Power Scrape and Hand Scrape. My 37 year old son, Alex taught the class and I assisted. I'm a bit of a cripp[e with my broke but healing left shoulder. It was tiring being in the class, plus I had 2 therapy appointments I had to go to on Monday and Tuesday.
I was able to demo how to BIAX Power Scrape and yesterday to my surprise showed them to 1/2 moon oil flake by hand. I guess my 50 plus years of dong it helped,..lol
JD wanted to buy my HKA-24"Straight-edge I was saving for a project, but decided to sell it to him as who knows if I will be back to normal anytime soon. Howard brought his Hardinge HLV Compound he scraped for his project and Bryan brought a Foster 18" prism Straight edge he scraped.
I was aching most of the time, so I didn't take a lot of pictures.
Howard and Jean-Daniel (JD) figure they will never be buying a Biax Power Scraper as they are so expensive so they hand scraped their projects. They both are Practical Machinist members too. Hopefully they will be contributing what they learned in the future as many of my other veteran PM members are now doing. We won't be teaching another class until October as Alex is the Superintendent of the Minnesota Bee Keeper building at the Minnesota State Fair that runs in the end of August and the beginning of Sept. He also captures Honey Bee's that live inside houses.and commercial buildings
Below are the Pic's. Luckily I taught Alec to scrape when he was younger.
