I recently turned bearing seats in a heavy wall piece of pipe on my heavy 10. Piece was 6 1/4” OD, 3/4” wall thickness and 8” long. I held it on the ID in a 6” four jaw chuck. I couldn’t hold it as well in a 7 1/2” four jaw chuck I have as the jaws were too big to fit completely inside and would not clear the ways on the outside.
Probably the largest piece of stock I would attempt turning unsupported by a center of some sort. I removed the cross slide cover for clearance to cleanup turn the OD. Light cuts and slow rpm.
Hope this helps.
Ben
