Are there any users of the liquid Ice coolant that can tell me pros/cons? We were brief users of Blaser Synergy 735 and we liked the clear aspect of the coolant but couldn't get past the strong chemical smell and several other issues with it.
Thanks in advance.

We're sorry you had a bad experience with Synergy 735! We'd love the opportunity to improve the situation. Feel free to message us and we'll connect you with your local representative to help see if there is a better option for your machining operations.

Tried it years ago. Was horrible back then. Went rancid real fast. Maybe it's better now but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Transparency and color should be at the very bottom of your list of criteria when choosing a coolant.

For most users, semi-synthetics are the way to go - good lubricity, good cooling properties, gentle on skin/paint/bare metals, and good resistance to microbes - and none of those are clear.

I do not see how any coolant would stay clear, tramp oil mixed in with chips and who knows what else. What we have now is blue when new,
that doesn't last long. So, yeah not something to consider.

There are quite a few full synthetics available that don't have issues staying clear. Some coolants reject contaminants instead of binding with them. In fact I really miss having clear coolant. Blaser Synergy did not perform well for us (poor lubricity and corrosion issues). In the past I had issues with other full Synthetics stripping paint off machines and eating seals.

i used it about 15 years ago. At first it worked well but really irritated my skin and then they reformulated it and it started eating the paint and way wipers in my machine. Run away. Using Qualichem 251C now and it gives terrific tool life but will go stinky over a long weekend for me. About to move the shop and thinking about changing but no idea what to go to.

We have run the gamut of coolants over the years. This has been a good stable coolant in steel and aluminum.
We do run skimmers and agitators, and monitor the concentration regularly.

Try a plant based botanical coolant. No chlorine, sulfur, or petroleum products. Won’t burn your lungs or crack your skin.

A quality full synthetic will last almost forever in your tank, as long as you use it regularly, keep the oil skimmed off, and oxygenate with bubblers over the weekends and holidays.

And by quality I mean Castrol, Qualichem, Trim-Sol...the pricey ones.

A cheaper full synthetic will almost always cause rust pretty quick.

Blaser is certainly high-end coolant, but what we used years ago would not stay in solution...the concentrate would break out and get vacuumed off as if it were lube oil.
