Looking at a 3016

I am going to check out a Fadal 3016 tomorrow. Any thing I should be on tue look out for?

I will bring an indicator and check the table. This one has a mp control. 32mp?

Unfortunately it was probably used to cut graphite but the price is right.

It turned out to be a pretty decent one owner machine. New crt, belville washers thrust bearings and unplugged Cool Power.

what's the right price going for?.....what year machine. box way fadals are well.....a box way fadal. plenty of threadds going over the good, bad and everything inbetween. if its a decent machine grab it and clean the piss out of it if it was running graphite it'll def expose some issues in the long run getting into the wrong places.

It's a 1998 with 10k spindle. I paid 4k for it. Table indicates flat and the axis drives sound great. Spindle is pretty quiet.

I have always wanted to have my own little shop and Lord knows I am not getting any younger.

Graphite history is usually pretty damn good for a machine tool because to machine graphite meant intelligence and intelligence leads to preventative maintenance. If the machine is within spec, had preventative maintenance ...including lube line kerosene flushes as per Fadals manuals then I would not be afraid of it.

I agree 100 percent. I set a side a couple bucks for repairs!!
