Do any of you happen to have a procedure or process for for machining molds? Is there step by step guide reference book somewhere one can use? I have a mold trying to machine. I have CAD done now trying to generate tool paths and wanted to get input from experts here. I know detail is last thing that’s all.

I need some guidance on how to machine a mold. I was wondering if there’s some sort of a book to reference when I work ok them. This is my first mold so I want to make sure I’m doing it right. What’s best way to reach you?

It totally depends on what you are doing to make your mold.
Are you starting with a pre-made mold base?
Are you inserting your cavities?
Are there any slides or pop-ups? If so how are you moving them?
Cold runner or hot? I think we know the answer but...
Is the parting line flat and in the same plane as the face of the plates?
How big is the part? Do you have the pillars designed if needed?
How are you retracting the ejector plate?
Most of it is common sense and you don't have to follow an exact order of construction for most details.
