I googled “vintage” and quora stated the following:
“What year do you consider vintage? If the item is no older than an antique but not less than 20 years, it falls under the term vintage. Therefore the answer is quite simple — a vintage item should be at least 20 years old, which means that today items from 2001 are considered vintage”.
SO.. I based my use of the word “vintage” in my thread on that definition..

Kenf,

I suspect you're getting a little pushback because invoking "vintage" doesn't carry much weight with this crowd. Probably most of the guys here (considered gender non-speicific) are making a living on "vintage" machinery by that definition. And they use everyday tools that are older than that but still in good working order. Plus, calling something vintage suggests that the seller believes the object should fetch a little more money being older so that would be an appeal to the "vintage collector" crowd, not the bunch of working stiffs. Simply saying you had a magnetic V-block for sale, including a photo and a description of its condition would get you further ahead. You've sort of muddied the waters with a vintage label.

Thanks for the info.. I will keep that in mind moving forward. I’ve been a machinist for over 40 years. I’m downsizing and thought I’d try to sell this on practical machinist, eBay and Facebook marketplace..
I just accepted an offer on marketplace and I want to delete this listing.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to delete this thread. Any tips would be appreciated..
in the interim I will edit the listing removing the word “vintage” , out of respect.. and I will note the item is not for sale anymore while I try to figure out how to delete it.
Thanks ,, Ken

Why do so many people have to be douches and push people off...I'm gonna start banning people for doing this shit.
Maybe you should take a step back, and re-read the whole thread from beginning to see what is going on here before condemning several long time members.

You talking about me? I thought it was a legit question. I think the term "vintage"
gets used way too much these days and I sure don't buy the idea that something
20 years old is vintage. Fifty years maybe? But not 20...

It's a general statement not at all directed at any one person.
