Hi All,
I have a 96 SQT 15 MS that sprung a problem today.

The spindle brake is stuck on.
I tried a few things from Philabusters comment on a thread in 2015.
M212, M210 and M211 all do nothing, nor does using the spindle clamp/brake buttons in the control.

Removing the connector from the valve turns the brake and clamp off completely.
The valve hammers back and forth randomly if you leave it on

Edit: The valve is a Parker D1VW 20BN QD 72
Can I assume its a bad valve?
Is there anything else I should check before trying to track down a new valve?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Does the valve have a pushbutton ( usually red) to manually activate it? If those do funny things when you push em, just change the whole assembly. Switch the solenoid coil and see if the problem follows also might be an indication to what your problem is.

IME, it’s much less common to have a bad valve than it is to have bad wiring, relay, i/o, power supply, etc. I would check all that before tossing a new valve at it.
Popped all the connectors off shortly after this post.
One connector was absolutely FULL of hydraulic oil.
Drained it, left the seal off so it can continue to drain, cleaned it and it runs just fine...
