Fadal has ALWAYS been an entry level machine. There was never, ever a premium level Fadal.
The curious part about Fadals is how for awhile, for a decade or so, Fadals were hamburger machines at hamburger prices. A running Fadal 4020 was a $2500 machine. A 3016 was a $1200 machine. Then, through the magic of the internet, Fadals have been perceived as good machines to start out with. Many folks documented reviving and revitalizing their Fadals to start a business or advance a hobby. Now Fadals are often priced at $10k and above. American money. Fucking insane.
There's a lot of Fadal content online. I guess it's a case of more must mean it's good right?
In contrast, machines that really are great machines to start out with, like pretty much anything made in Japan, does not have much brand specific content anywhere online because there is nothing to talk about. Good machines run and run and run and run. You don't have to replace the thrust bearings and bellvilles every year. You don't have to replace the Turcite in a decent machine. CNC's built for making money don't use umbrella toolchangers. Pretty much any other VMC ever built can interpolate a very round hole at 100+ IPM. Not a Fadal. I guess they figured that wasn't important?
Fadals probably need a dedicated forum more than any other brand machine there is. Sadly, it will only lead to inflated Fadal values.
