About the op, mill in the corner is a good idea for saving space, but only until you drop a tool, a part, a wrench, a screw or ..... just about any f'n thing that can be dropped
which in turn will find it's final resting place ONLY behind the machine.

And then there is the other cheerful activity of cleaning-up after the work is done.

I like having the lathe and mill in the middle of the room and leave the corner for the work bench. It's far easier to sweep up after everything when the machines aren't in a corner. The work bench and tool boxes are a far better fit for the corner and along the wall.

I understand your space limits (I have a severe problem with space), but when ever possible place machinetools away from walls. By doing so, you gain the vertical wall space that can be a very useful walkway or a shelved wall. I have deeply studied this theory and it works, it's quite possible that you will gain useable space.

I have a B'port sitting tight into a corner at home in a small two car garage. Down side there is no cleaning up around it.

The RX was a 7" riser and splash guards off the table ends and back. Guards just clear the ram with the knee raised to the top. Cleanup is a snap.

Downside being a smaller material envelope. For what I do at home that's not an issue.

Works on a horizontal machining center, too. I once punched a hole in the wall into the neighbor's office, working on the other end of a long part. Didn't even notice until he came over to ... errr ... mention it Had to do some sheetrock work that weekend.

I think everybody does the Bridgeport-inna-corner trick for a while, then figures out it doesn't really save any space but is a big pita.

As for the mill in a corner, I suggest that, if you must, do check on clearance for normal table movements.

As for my mill, I have it in the middle of my shop and one end of the table points to a corner. I believe I could get an eight or ten foot length of stock off that end of the mill if I needed to. This placement was very deliberate. My lathe has it's tailstock end pointing more or less at the opposite corner, over a workbench which is behind the mill.
