Monarch 14 WAA Compound Questions

I have an old monarch and the gib in the compound is broken. Took it apart to clean and inspect and saw where it looks like it was cut by previous owner. Is there any places to buy gibs for a lathe this old? The gib also has no taper to it.

You could try Monarch for parts, it's amazing what parts they still have for the older machines. That said we have made a few jibs over the years, pretty simple milling project and a easy heat harding.

Thank you. I sent monarch an email maybe they can produce. I thought about milling one, but didn’t know if I needed a harder or softer material.

When we have fabricated our own depending on application we used everything from Starrette oil harding steel on the hard side to as soft as brass. Some machines used brass from the factory.
