Looks like the same lathe they are talking about in the post next to yours.

Looks like a pneumatic tracer attachment on a Monarch 612 lathe. My '67 originally had a electronic tracer on it so I would guess it predates that, although not by a whole lot. The 612 basically replaced the model 61. Obviously condition matters most to value.

Edited to add: never mind, I see it sold.

Looks like a Series 612 with a tracer. Lathe can be run in manual or in tracer mode. The Series 612 is a workhorse that was highly produced lathe made from 1960 tin the early 1970's when replaced with the Series 612. The series 62, 610, 612, 613 and 614 where made in models 1610, 2013, 2416 and 2818 (I'm might missing a few models), point being repair parts are available.

I bought this lathe and am looking at the tracer attachment and how complex the wiring is. Is it possible to remove the tracer and maybe modify the lathe to have a compound? It looks like the tracer attachment has been worked on many times by all the hand written wiring diagrams I found in it.

May the force be with you , is all I can say. I'm not helpful, looking at the wiring gives me .... the "heebeegeebeez".. and I completely restored an original WIAD.

You might be better off getting an hydraulic copy trace setup and fitting that.......see the discussion on the Hepworth unit in General .....these units are pretty common ,as in everyone has one that he s never used.

Yes the lathe can be run without the tracer, but finding standard compound rest might not be easy.
