Hello
I bouth an 1957 Southbend 9a. After degreasing and reassemble every parts I am stuck with that question. How to align the pulleys between the motor and the lathe? There are not many square parts in any of them. So the belt is always slipping to one side or the other. Is it because of a bad alignement or is the belt too old? With a square I tried to align the pulleys with the way of the lathe. Perfectly align both pulley the small one of the headstock with the right one of the back. The belt slip.
Thanks and I apologize for my not so good English. If, before answering, you need more informations on my set-up, please ask.
Sincerely,

Robert Patoine,

Do you have a flat belt or a v-belt lathe ? I have flat belt & I used a nice solid straight edge between the spindle countershaft pulleys .
