I received an old thickness planer for free. Previous owner had a lot of the wiring screwed up so I’m redoing everything but want to make sure it’s done right. Motor is 2hp single phase and will be wired for 240v. Plate on motor says code G (not sure if that is relevant) and 12 [email protected]

The current motor starter is made by Square D,class 8536, type cg-22. Max hp rating 3hp for 230v.
First off…Is this suitable size starter for my motor? Thanks

Sounds good to me. You may need to install two heaters matched to the motor. I would try it with the existing heaters before spending money on new ones.

For single phase I have been known to replace the one heater with copper wire. Or both for a test. small guage Wire solder makes a nice more permanent replacement.
For single phase two heaters is enough no need for all three. Just do not switch the ground wire.
