Dear All,

We are in a process of setting up an MDT centre in our area. And currently we are intending to install the following machines in the workshop:
• CNC VMC (3000x1200x700)
• CNC HMC (1900x1400x900)
• CNC VMC (1900x1400x900)
• CNC VMC (1000x550x450)
• Universal Milling Turret Type (1000x300x450)
• Universal Milling Bed Type (1100x520x600)
• CNC Turning Centre
• Radial Drilling (1350)
• Lathe (Length 1000)
• NC Surface Grinder (800x400x300)
• NC Surface Grinder (300x200x200)
• CNC EDM (75 amps) (2500x1350x700)
• CNC EDM (75 amps) (1450x950x550)
• CNC EDM (50 amps) (700x500x400)
• CNC Wire Cut (5 Axis) (1000x600)
• CNC Wire Cut (5 Axis) (600x400)
• 3 D Scanner
• Rapid Prototyping
• Heat Treatment Facility
• CMM
• Matching Press 100T
• Surface Texturing/Treatment Facility
• Crane 20T
• Tool Presetting Equipment

Now,
--could you pls. provide me with some kind of layout plan for these machines ?
--What kind of airconditioning is needed for these machines (normally)??
--Few of these machines are having capacity of workpiece of as huge as 3 Tons.so, should we build an over-head crane for the mould assembly??
--Are there any fork lifters (Man Operated) for these machines ??
--Will we be needing seperate compressors for the pneumatics of these machines???

but the most imoportant thing right now is the layout plan for approx 30,000 Sq ft shop area (if needed) for these machines ...

CAN ANYBODY HELP ME>>????

The best advice that I could give you is for you to employ someone who has done this kind of work before and who knows what he is doing.

You then need to divide your list into precision and non-precision machines. For example, the 100T press cannot be on the same foundation as the Tool Presetting Equipment, the CMM or the 3D scanner.

The EDM machines need their own air conditioning and can not be in the same room as the other eguipment as they will cause rust. Same is for the Heat Treating equipment.

The milling machines can be placed close together as can the EDM machines. The Bed Mill and the Press need more room to load parts into them.

The amount of room for each machine will also depend on the size and quantity of each product.

Smaller cranes for each machine is more usefull that one large crane.

The pneumatic air used will depend on the machine. Will you be using air-chucks, Air-lifters, Blowoff heads, and etc? One, large, compressor is usually used.

This is a lot of equimpent for 30,000 Sq ft. and you also need warehousing, shipping and loading, raw materials storage, offices, and etc. The overhead crane needs to be able to access some of the storage and loading areas.

Good luck with your venture.

Yeah we know that. Its a common facility centre cum skill dveelopment centre. The budget for the project has been approved and it was based on the machineries that we benchmarked.
We have an approved constructional area of 54451 sq ft but in the proposed layout plan we have kept 20000+ sq ft dfor classes and offices.
Now, the consultant for the construction phase has been hired and we are having difficulty of calculating the span for the pre-engineered building as we aint sure whether "crane" would be beneficial enough because the ambient temperature for the CNCs falls between 15-35 degrees celcius. and we have to dust proof them as well. And we cant afford to install chiller or airconditioning for the complete hall. But what we can do is install seperate ACs for each machinery ..but how to islolate them and then able to use crane over each room ...
The workflow for these machines is pretty simple ..no prblem ...but crane span has to be submitted before ordering Pre-fab steel structure ...You know what i mean ...
We are having difficulty of calculating the span of the crane ...to give the construction consultant the exact span for pre-fab structure ...
So, What i needed from you was any shop comprosing of these kind of machines which such a large work piece to use crane to lift ...
???????????????

The crane manufacturer wants the building size before he designs the crane. The construction consultant wants the crane size. You don't know the crane size till you have the floor plan but you can't place the machines until you know where the crane can reach. These are the kinds of decisions an engineer makes and if given the proper information he might even get it right. You need to hire someone who has done this before.

This learn as you go and buy it before you need it process seems sure to end up as you-got-it-wrong.
