My journey to scraping

Why am I a glutten for punishment... On top of all the other projects that i shouldn't have started I've been collecting tools and odds and ends things to get started into scraping. I have absolutely no idea why I want to do this the only thing I can figure is im possibly mentally unstable . My plan is to take a course once i aquire a few more tools. Currently I have multiple straight edges a few cast and granite surface plates and I'm trying to aquire a Biax.

Recently I bid on a bunch of Biax at auction. I did in fact win the bid and planned on purchasing multiple machines. 1 for back up parts for myself and others to re-sell/part out. The problem was the software on the auction side went goofy and it wouldn't let me pick witch scrapers I wanted then that turned Into the auction getting halted and people getting cranky. In the end I got nothing and basically got screwed. The hunt for a Biax continues!

I've been collecting Camelbacks and have a few I'm going to keep. The rest I'm going to sell eventually. I'm going to hunt down a larger surface plate and a flatness inspection something er other.

Wow! Nice collection there. So have you started scraping yet?

BTW -- I'd love to see your pictures in higher resolution, but they're hosted on another forum that requires a membership. It would be great if you could attach them here.

I have not started scraping yet. I'd like to pick up a few hand scrapers and a biax before I get started.

Yea I was one of the guys that picked one of the scrapers up at the end. Was an idiot and didnt pick up that 8EM when i had the chance. Was really was really jealous on your camelback pickup. Really wanted to get a chance on 1-2 of those. Hell of a addition to anyone’s collection

Sorry about holding the auction up there for a few. I'm still butt hurt over that entire situation. I was local to the auction so it made sense to try and get all I could.

I think its natural progression, after machining for years, curiosity gets the better of you.........

Or you want to do better than accept whatever condition the last owner left the machine in, if the machine is worth it. Some things you can't change without replacing major parts (chew marks in several places, here), but you can make the parts function well.

Honestly I don't know how to machine much but I like machines. I like them clean and purrdy
