Mystery NMTB50 holder with thru coolant

So I picked this item up with a batch of NMTB50 face, shell, and endmill holders, but I can't figure out what is it's purpose. It appears to have never been used.

It has a stationary collar to allow a coolant connection. The drawbar threads are 1"-8 threads, but the bore for whatever is held in the business end is 27mm. It also has two notches to lock in whatever tool is held in this thing.

It was made by Hertel (not sure if before or after they were bought by Kennametal), with what might be a part number stamped on it: #5.41511-1060A. There's also a PO# stamped on it, so perhaps this tool is a one-off special order.





For now, it's just a (heavy) paperweight on my desk, but if someone knows what it is and can use it, PM me.

I don't know what it was designed to drive, but the coolant inducing part is nothing strange. It is often used for drilling and most everything down a deep hole.

I have a bunch of old Sandvik Varilock 80 stuff I use with my NMTB50 HBM and it is all coolant through.

Thanks. Understood about the coolant. The part I'm not familiar with is the two notches to drive something. It also has two set screws as if it would be for a Weldon-type tool, but they're opposed, not stacked.

The toolholder takes a special adapter, whose name escapes me now. Istr it has a slight taper, and the set screws bear on the adapter such that they pull the adapter into the holder.

It's a holder for a Hertel (Kennametal) HTS style drill.
