Hi Guys;
Does anybody have NPT blanking dimensions they could share or direct me to?
I used to cut drill joints and the Drillco handbook had them.. Box and Pin rotary shoulder blanking dimensions..
And they had NPT in there to.
That book is expensive if you can find one.
It is so much easier to bore the taper ( on ID ) clear to finish at taper, and then a few trips through with the threading bar.
Mostly, if I have a sample, I'll just go off it and in the case of ID stuff, just with a caliper and go.

It is a lot faster than working with pitch diameters and all the un-necessary foolishness.

Bore it, thread until you get engagement correct..

Thanks!!!

Generally ,unless the work is precision,pipe threads are made straight for female threads,and taper for male plugs .....in practice the male fitting forces the female thread taper ....not ideal ,but it works ,even on hydraulic applications.......some male plugs are made crazy oversize ,and only two or three threads will engage.........a cheap plug out of spec ,no one cares.

Yeah, well, we aren't cutting corners... this is oilfield work...
That only gives you a seal on the first thread.
I did find a blanking chart, but it is copied over and hard to read. Not presentable here...
But I was going to try to launder it and post it.
I blanked out, and then 7 quick passes...
Done.
