I am completely lost right now. I am currently turning brass rod. I have been having no issues and then all of the sudden, on the rough turning op, I started hearing a loud almost grinding noise. I go look at the part and the finish is absolutely horrible. Lines going all through it and a horrible horrible finish. Frankenstein looking. I tried changing the insert, same thing. I switched to another roughing tool I have in the machine and it finished the part no problem. I would normally think that something is wrong with the tool, maybe it got hit out of whack. I don't know, something. Another thing that is throwing me off is that when I use it to manually cut the material, I have no issues. My feed is only .012, RPM about 1200. Any ideas on what the problem could be? To recap, another roughing tool had no problem with the program and manual cuts were just fine.

Edit: im not sure how to delete this post but increasing the feed seemed to fix the problem

[I understand that you are up and running currently]

Are you running 360 or Green Dot? (unleaded)

Can't imagine having issues turning 360.

I think I figured it out. I increased the feed and it seems to be working fine
