OT?: Ammo belt corrosion

I’ve got a Garand ammo belt, marked JT & L 1942. It’s a reproduction. Heavy tan canvas.

It’s pretty quickly corroding anything stored in it - green on the brass cases and copper jackets where they contact the canvas, rust on the Garand en bloc clips. It is stored in a relatively dry room.

Any idea of something I could wash it in or treat it with that would stop the corrosion?

Its probably salt in the fabric ......toss it in your washing machine and wash it .
Thanks, John. Salt hadn’t occurred to me - I was thinking perhaps acid or something used to lighten the canvas, and what I might use to neutralize it.

Whatever it is, a simple washing does make sense.

Now to cleaning up those loaded rounds. Thinking of putting them in the tumbler….

Not.
