OT - On / off knob for forklift propane tank source ?

Yes, that's right...something ridiculous really.... but got an otherwise nice 33 gallon tank missing the knob. Shaft is 5/16" with 1/4" flats at the end. Can't find one via the usual suspects... might have to spend 30 bucks for a valve just to get the damn knob off it !

any gas supplier near by that deals in bulk propane? im sure they have them. especially if they recert tanks like they do for peoples houses.

At least for the 5 gallon tanks there are federal laws about the three lobe valve handle. The tank has to have a float shutoff so it can not be overfilled if it has a three lobe handle. I bet there is a huge liability for selling just the handle. No one can refill the old type valve handle tanks.
I do not think this applies to fork tanks ,yet?

I had a couple of forklift tanks serviced and requalified a few years ago and even though they put new valves in them they still didn't get the triangle valves like my RV has.
