Ariens all hydro and shaft. parts available. look for a Grand Sierra, with a 60 inch blade. they can use 3 point, front mid and rear pto. built like a tank. i have an older one, does everything i needed, but my new land is too steep for 16 hp

Looks like something to bang your head on when getting off the machine, but hey having high mounted lights is paramount when loading trailers or trucks at night.

Actually by the time you start to stand up your head is already pretty much over the tops of the side bars, and the center/cross bar is low so it doesn't get in the way at all. I would have cut them off a long time ago if I didn't actually find them handy - both for the high lights and for a handhold when climbing on and off the tractor.

Smaller than others mentioned here but I like my Honda RT5000. They also made a 5013 and a bigger 5018. All wheel drive, 4 wheel steering, parts seem fairly plentiful on the used market and with PTO front and rear its pretty flexible. Way over engineered and heavily built compared to similar units. If you are interested, get one with as many attachments as possible. They are what are expensive now.

Always thought those were pretty cool.

I’ll second a Kubota BX. I bought one a few years ago and love it. They are a few thousand cheaper than the equivalent JD tractor. Ive got a loader, 60” mower deck, box scraper, and a rototiller. Can do just about everything around the house with it. Garden tractors are pretty much obsolete now - if you are looking for something new and want to mow grass you get a zero turn. If you want something that can do everything you get a subcompact tractor.

A link to this article turned up on my screen .
I can't say it would be something I would recommend doing for any lawn tractor I would own but I thought some of you might like to see it .
Not to detract from the accomplishment but completely home built in my way of thinking would mean no or few stock parts but I suppose the journalists have to promote their story somehow.
I quickly checked out a few of his other videos
He must be a very efficient and have lots of time on his hands to get that done in the 6 months since the first video.
I see he is from Sweden .
