We had an MX3 that had similar symptoms, eventually it quit completely. We contacted Southwest Industries, told them the symptoms, and they had a new display on the way in short order. I installed it, verified it worked, and shipped the old one back for a core. I want to say the cost was around $1500 after the core refund.

SWI is a very nice company to work with.

FYI, the replacement had a new LCD screen instead of the old CRT and that was a very nice (unexpected) upgrade.

Not in my experience. I was about to buy a new Prototrak mill until I called for a few questions. They could care less and had no interest in answering my questions or selling me a new mill.

To be fair, it was a few years ago that I dealt with them so things may have changed. That's too bad about your experience, that old MX3 control was very easy to use and I've heard/read nothing but good things about their newer controls and machines so you (and SWI) missed out.

I replaced the monitor in ours with a cheap LCD I found online. It has been awhile and I’d probably need to take it apart to get a PN.
