Aloha,
I'm new to the forum looking for answers regarding the orifice ball for semi auto rifles. I'm in the process of cleaning my rifle due to ejector problems and removed the set screw to access the ejector port and found the orifice ball to be worn and oblong. The question I have is whats the purpose of the ball? Is this wear due to hot gasses passing the gas block operating the action rod assembly? Upon reassembly, I positioned the ball over the seat where the ball appeared to be perfectly spherical and reset the set screw.
I read in a previously discussed thread that ejector problems could be the magazine, spring, and latch. I am also inspecting these areas of my rifle as well.
Thanks for any responses in advance.
