Quality Control Software

I am not sure if this is the right section for this but I am looking for some quality control software. Currently, my process can be best described as using a checklist that has all the dimensions of the part and I record the date, PO#, inspector, qty of parts in order, qty of parts inspected and then record the dimensions. Each part has its own folder in the filing cabinet and I keep all the associated drawings, PPAP etc. with it. I'd like to move this process to an electronic format. At a minimum, I'd like to be able to continue doing what I'm doing now without all the paper work, so I'd like to be able to attach the plans, material certs, PPAPs etc to the inspection file electronically. It would also be nice to be able to run reports to track quality control. Any experience with something like this?

If you are a small shop, I suggest devloping you documents in word/exel or obtaining an APQP Excel Workbook (Search it :) )

Then your PPAP's or any hardcopies for that matter can be scanned in an saved electronically.

As stated above word and excel can do what you are looking for and it would be a good place to start unless someone chimes in with an out of the box solution that meets your needs.

Depending on how much time you have, it might be a good idea to look into access and databases. You will have a lot more power in organizing your data and population multiple documents with out repetitive data entry.

If you want to take it a step further you can dive into Visual Studio and create a richer user experience with custom interfaces and smarter work flows that will cut down on user error. In the past I have written complete paperless automation suites that have started with the requests, to setup sheets, to machine scheduling, then quality documents and project status updates.

Thanks for the input. I do think I could create my own system using Excel or Access, but I just don't have the time to do it which is why I was hoping there would be a software package out there. Maybe I need to look for someone to create it for me.
