magnetic parallels for surface grinder

Hey people,

Midway thru another week. Back in the day, in the shop where I worked, we had a set of parallel bars used for holding parts on a magnetic chuck....easy you say, a dime a dozen....not so fast! These parallels were unique; one edge was serrated (not sharp though) and they were thinner in the center, along the length, and were manufactured slightly bowed...when you put them on the chuck, and it was energized, the parallels flattened out, providing some downwards pressure on your work...has anyone any knowledge of anything like this?

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Better Title:
"Hold down parallels for use on the magnetic chuck (?)

Or the answer should be to "Go see a doctor".. *or your post locked before you get an answer.
Nobody will search Brain Racking..A member since 2012 you should know better than such a poor title.
Shame on you, bad, bad, bad....No desert for you, and go to bed now..... End of rant.

*You can/should go back and change your title*. This is an important thread and should not be lost...

Some grinder guys also called them chuck or hold-down combs.

Also, a good hold method is the have a bump stop in the go direction that is end angled upward so the part touching is touching at the part top edge, just below the grind size target.

you can also use two thin, sharp blades that you press into the work and lock down on the chuck.
