Fadal 4020 with extended Z

Get a Fadal with linear rails, easy and cheap to change if their shot.

Mori Seiki SL1/3 if you need a tailstock

Mori Seiki SL2 if you don't

Mori Seiki's come with Fanuc and Yasnac controls, avoid the Yasnacs. Fanucs are easy to get service for and parts are plentifull on ebay.

Just for kicks, I have a 1983 Okuma LB-15 with an OSP 5000 control. Okuma still has parts and support for it, top to bottom. Not cheap, but there. I also have a Mori Seiki SL3-H lathe with Fanuc System 11T-A control, both Mori and Fanuc still stock all the parts I needed. Again, not cheap, but there, and at my door in 48 hours or less.

I also have a Pratt and Whitney Tri-Mac XV VMC with a Fanuc System 11M-A control. Other than the P&W nameplate, I think this machine was assembled from the local parts supply house as nearly everything that isn't Fanuc is available elsewhere. Of course, Fanuc supported this control too.
