Chapter: The GearBox
So I decided to start with the biggest, baddest part on here because I'm a madman.

Pay no mind to the assembly that was totally removed before this point.
Removed the four bolts holding in the gearbox and ran into an issue with a spindle on the side preventing it from coming out.

I got it on the bench and started the teardown.

(If I'm not mistaken, this picture was taken after a first cleaning of the faceplate.)

Four more bolts under the faceplate (and some taps with a mallet and paint scraper) and this large ring comes off.

Look at all those gears that need to come out! And every last one of them is covered in 20 year old stale oil.

So it should be noted at this point that not only am I restoring this machine, I am also drawing it up piece by piece in CAD including (admittedly poor quality, but touched up) 3D scans of the casings. Some of the early parts are a bit off at the moment as I realized my dial calipers were off by like half a millimeter; I have since switched to my trusty vernier.

Files will be made publicly available as soon as I can figure out how to do that and when they are done.

PS: files will not be intended to be manufacturable designs, but rather a guide for finding/identifying parts and where they go within the machine.

A worthwhile effort! Much appreciated!!
