Hey all..

I have a VF2 that I added a floppy emulator to. It lost power, so im locked out of enabling the floppy option.
Haas is saying they dont offer the floppy option any more and my only option is to upgrade the motherboard to accept USB. They quoted me $13,000.
Does anyone know of any solutions that use the RS232 serial port vs the floppy?

So the control has an RS232?
they make USB to RS232 emulators, I have one and it works on a heidenhain[and a windows XP notebook!] and they are fussy fussy about RS232

What lost power?

Why can't you re enable the floppy option if you had it previously?

I must not be understanding something. Can you provide some clarification?

Because Haas says so
Since I have not said this in a while, just as a note:
There are not control options in a Heidenhain control
They just sell the control and you do what you do.

The floppy option is turned on with a code that is provided when the option was originally purchased.

You should be able to re enable that option with that code.

I'm guessing what you're saying is you were on a floppy demo and it timed out?
Anyways, you can run an RS232 line to the machine from a computer, or you can try one of these plugged in to the RS232 port:

We use this on a 2006 VF that we were using RS232 on. It's fine for transferring, not sure if it will drip feed or if larger programs will create issues.
