After 50+ years of gentle use we're thinking about selling our Schaublin SV70 Toolmakers' lathe and am wondering if there's any interest in it and what their value (price) may be. This machine came out of Bendix during the age of the space-race and may have actually made parts for the Mercury & Gemini programs. I'm including some pics. This machine has CHROME ways and they are still in great shape! We have 2 tailstocks - one is the hand-wheel operated tailstock (#70-65) and the other is the drilling tailstock that uses W-12 collets (#70-68). This machine also has a VARIAC Model 1700-B variable speed controller (by General Radio Co.), which is really great because you can vary the speed quickly and easily (0 rpm to max rpm) without touching the belts. The VARIAC includes its own 1/3 hp 1725 rpm DC motor (115V DC). Never seen any other Schaublins with the chrome ways and variac speed controller so this one is 'special'.
