Shilen Open House

From what I understand, Shilen, the barrel-maker is having a shop open house and swap meet in Ennis, Tx south of DFW. Supposedly, he will be having a barrel making show, with machines running. My local old fart machinist NTMAC club will be attending as well as the swap meet which I believe includes machinist tools etc. ,

this is a yearly event, ive been several times but wont make it this year. IMHO every shooter and especially machinist/gunsmith should go at least once to see how quality barrels are made and eliminate the bullshit you read on the internet. Its very impressive
Pretty good lunch too, plus you can usually meet Butch Lambert and Jackie Schmidt and other PM Gunsmith Heros lol.

I made the event again this year. It’s a great time, and yes, you get to meet and rub shoulders with folks like Butch and Turk, not to mention Wade and Jennifer, the owners of Shilen.

this year was probably the best swap meet I have seen to date. Lots of great deals.

Unfortunately I forgot the date and didn’t put it in my phone to remind me and volunteered to work!
I hope to make it next year!

I sure plan on it. This year I brought my brother along. He had never been hog hunting, and I wanted to give him the opportunity. We left Minnesota a day early to avoid weather that was coming in. Being we had time, we took in the Sierra outlet store and the Bushnell outlet store.

We had a great show. It was the 16th annual event That I helped start. They are great people to work with.We will have it again next spring. I had a weakness for an 1886 Winchester in 40-65. Dies are on the way and bullets also. I only have very few pieces of fired brass and will make some from 45-70 brass.
