In light of trboatworks unfortunate accident, what do you use to push wood past a blade?
I despise the traditional board with a notch pushstick- it give no control over the wood lifting.
A friend uses an icepick like awl..that was scary too...!
Here is what I use. Basically a saw handle with a flat and notch. I make them by the dozen and toss them when they get chewed up.
Similar one for the jointer.DSCF1145.JPGDSCF1147.JPGDSCF1146.JPG

We typically use the same as you Stoneaxe only simpler. Usually just the notch on the bottom and a radius on the top corner where you push. Takes less than a minute to make so you don't mind throwing it away. We have an overarm guard and if it's in place I sometimes grab a long scrap of wood and use it as if I were cutting it as well. I then either kill the saw or carefully back it out.

My push stick is about 6" shorter now. The end can push thin stuff and get chewed up. Then just chop it down another inch.
Idea is to not pass a hand over a blade.
