On the signature end, in small number stamps on upper right wing, is the number 233. This has to have been put on by the maker because it is fresh (burred) over his facing marks. Can any of you who make and sign shop-made tools figure out why he marked this “233?” But no, I haven’t been losing sleep over this, but the answer might make this interesting piece, in my permanent collection, a little more interesting.

My first question had to do with the tiny prick punch marks in a pattern on the bottom flat. At first I thought it was some layout marking but then I realized this was staking to hold the steel cylinders into the aluminum.

Yup, I was 711! Ha! Those numbers are also generally used for checking out tools from the tool room, so you get to know other guys' numbers after a while. My guess is that it's his clock number also.
