Hi folks, anybody have experience with slotting steels with a small (2.5”) circular saw? Since the demise of Thurston in RI I have not been able to find a suitable replacement for their 2.5” x .016” x .5” saw and am running out of inventory. Would appreciate any advice on this subject. Thanks.

Thanks, I will look into this. As we move forward, for those of us who are still working in the 20th century and too old to need to move on it is good to know that there are folks who still make quality tools for those of us wanting to do things by hand to a high standard.

I made it into the 21st century before I dug in my heels, moved to BFE Idaho, but I still appreciate fine tools and the folks that make them.

About 18 months ago, I had a job that called for custom slitting saws in HSS rather than carbide. I got them from Martindale for a reasonable price and was happy with the way the saws worked. They do both HSS and carbide and will make pretty much anything of a sensible size.
